My Top 15 Favorite Christmas Songs
Christmas-time is Here!
There are SO MANY things to love about Christmas, but a HUGE part of it is all the Christmas songs. There are two different camps: those that can’t wait to start listening to Christmas music, and others who complain about how early they start playing every year.
I’m not ashamed to say that if I’m the mood for a particular Christmas song, I’ll listen to it anytime of the year. But certain songs scream “Christmas-time” more than others. I have compiled a list of my Top 15 Favorite Christmas Songs.
These are the songs that make me excited about Christmas in so many ways. Some of them are just fun while others are rather reflective and even poignant. But they each serve a place in my heart, representing this time of year. Enjoy!
(To avoid the risk of hate-mail, on many of the songs that have been covered by multiple artists, I have included a video of my favorite version with a YouTube link to the version that is a close second. You’re welcome.)
#1 All I Want for Christmas is You
#2 A Marshmallow World
#3 Little Drummer Boy
#4 O Holy Night
#5 White Christmas
#6 Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
Trans-Siberian Orchestra “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)”
This song is an air-guitarists dream! haha It is a marriage of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Carol of the Bells” telling the story of a cellist in war-ravaged Sarajevo. The dynamics take you on a ride from calm to bold and powerful. This is a song I have performed in various groups around Christmastime as a pianist and keyboardist and no-joke I always need to put heating pads on my wrists after each gig. I love it!
